Family First Children’s Foundation relies on community partners, and without our sponsors, many children would go without the therapy and resources they deserve. Where Your Support Goes
For children with disabilities, essential therapy, communication technology, and medical equipment can come with significant out-of-pocket costs - even when insurance provides coverage. Your support helps families access the resources their children need to communicate, move, participate, and thrive.
$150 Average cost of one occupational therapy, speech therapy, or physical therapy session.
$1,000–$1,500 Average cost of one week of intensive therapy. Families often need 2–3 weeks of intensive therapy.
$1,500 Can provide 10 occupational therapy, speech therapy, or physical therapy sessions.
$1,500 Can cover the cost of an iPad with AAC software to support communication.
$2,500 Can cover out-of-pocket costs for an AAC device with eye-gaze technology or medically necessary equipment.
$3,000 Can provide 20 occupational therapy, speech therapy, or physical therapy sessions.
( 2x a week for 10 weeks or 1x a week for 20 weeks)
$5,000–$8,000 Can help provide a wheelchair or walker when insurance does not cover the full cost. Insurance may limit coverage for certain equipment to once every five years, leaving families responsible for the full cost when equipment is outgrown or no longer meets their child's needs.

Even when insurance provides coverage, families may face significant deductibles, copays, coverage limits, and equipment restrictions. These expenses can quickly add up to thousands of dollars.
